Abbie Taylor Holberg was born May 15, 1934 in Carson City, Michigan. She died September 22, 2021 of cancer. Growing up in a large family, she was easy to get along with and always ready to lend a hand. She was married 45 years before her husband, Robert M. Holberg preceded her in death. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Michigan and learned how to fly.
She was a strong and wise woman. Her knowledge expanded well past her 12th grade education fueled by her growth on the farm and reading. Her practical, mechanical and home keeping skills were expanded and perfected by application, teaching and learning from those around her. Her grace, persistence and kindness is an inspiration to us all. She was one of a kind, and we enjoyed seeing the loving, spirited and fun relationships she had with her siblings and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Spink Taylor and Rena Belle Taylor; her siblings, Howard Taylor, Ruth Heald, Elizabeth Baker, Mickey Taylor, and Dallas Taylor; her grandson, Michael Holberg; her son-in-law, James Menke; and her daughters-in-law, Darlene Holberg and Lynda Grinnell-Wall.
She is survived by her sisters, Margaret Taylor, Arlene Taylor, Pauline Smith, Stephanie Taylor, Doris Shoemaker, Helen Waldron and Irene Borton; her children and their spouses, Joann Menke, Rex Holberg, James Holberg, Robert Holberg and Donna (Thelen) Holberg, John Holberg, and Diana Gordick and Robert Gordick continue on in her spirit. She loved her 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel. Burial will follow at Carson City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
