

Age 84, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lansing on Wednesday, October 1st. He will be remembered for his friendly and welcoming nature, warm sense of humor, love of family and friends, and an active and adventurous life.
Al grew up in Stowe, Vermont, the 2nd oldest of Mabel and Clitus Tomlinson's four children.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Suzanne (Sheaffer) Tomlinson, son Michael Alan Tomlinson and his fiancée Kathleen Brown of Medford, MA, his brothers Floyd Tomlinson of Seymour, CT and Phil Tomlinson and his wife Jody of Stowe, VT. He was preceded in death by his sister, Alayne (Tomlinson) Trombley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Al retired from MetLife Financial Services after over 40 years as a trusted advisor to many clients across the greater Lansing area. He spent many winter weekends as a professional ski instructor at Mt. Brighton and in retirement enjoyed annual ski vacations in Dillon, Colorado. An avid MSU supporter, he regularly attended Spartan football and basketball games. Al and Sue traveled extensively throughout the US as well as Europe, South America, Russia, and China. He served in many capacities at Plymouth Congregational Church including on the Board of Trustees, Board of Deacons, and other committees.
Plymouth Congregational Church (2001 E. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48912-3286) will host a Celebration of Life service Monday, October 13th. Family will receive visitors starting at 10:30AM, with services at 11:30, and a luncheon to follow.
