Deb Trudeau purchased the Simply Elegant Spathiphyllum for the family of Alberta "Penny" Lois Strang.

I'm just one of many comrades at Eaton Rapids High School, class of 1960, who remember Penny as a thoughtful and serious student who "included everyone" on her list of friends. I remember how Neil Strang considered himself very privileged to be receiving Penny's attention. Penny was our 1960 class Salutatorian, which speaks well of her abilities and dedication.

She was the best teacher ever, and I will never forget her. RIP Mrs Strang

My deepest condolences to you, Heather, Al and all of your family. Penny's memory will live long as she touched so many hearts and made them better. I shall treasure every conversation, pearl of wisdom and hardy laugh that we shared when she'd come over. 

Since we talked about God a lot, I do believe that I'll see her again. Please know that I miss her dearly, am grieving with you and am very grateful for her time in my life. She made me forget that I have no family here. For that, I will forever be grateful. Thank you for sharing her with the world, Heather. I'm an only child, too.

If you don't mind, I wish to honor her through an award in her name to be given to a student at my summer science/arts camp that she helped me prepare for some months ago.

Heather, I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. She was an amazing woman that will remain in the hearts of all she touched. It was such a privilege to know her and I will always remember working so hard to get her bangs cut just right, then they still weren't just right until she got her hands in her hair. Through Penny's mother Lois sending me a christmas card for 40 years. We stayed connected but the cards were written by [ about ten years ago we found out[ Penny, Cleo,Heather mostly Lois thoughtss. I met Penny when my family moved back to Eaton Rapids to a farm on Long Hwy, we rode the same bus to school in 1955. I never saw Penny vocally or physically harrass any male or female, she would let you know if you wronged her. God bless in many ways, love ya my friend. Ron Elston

OK, tears flowing...but I must say that one of Penny's greatest achievements is the time and effort and loving she gave to a wonderful human being( that someone is Heather). Heather, you are awesome and your mom deserves a gazillion % credit. You are loved.

Penny was truly one in a million. It was my pleasure to work with her all these years. She was always there when she was needed and she will be greatly missed.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness that is felt with her passing.

Penny, Carol (Bellows) Wright, and I spent quite a time on the "Road to Pasadena" when we all decided to move there for community college, and to share an apartment for several years. We marched together in the Rose Bowl Parade in 1963! I hope I can scan pictures for you. What marvelous memories of a truly soft-spoken, talented, beautiful, and kind woman. Another highlight was inducting Neil (with Heather as his stand-in) into the Eaton Rapids Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1959-60 Eaton Rapids Greyhound Champion Football Team in 2007. The Class of 1960 is saddened with this news. She is missed.

Mrs. Strang was more than a teacher. She was a mentor to every student in her classroom. She never gave up on a student, even if that student had already given up on themselves. She wanted everyone to be their best and she pushed and motivated all of us. 

In elementary school, I was bullied all the time. I have one vivid memory that I would like to share. Some girls had ripped up my spelling word homework. Now, for those of you that don't know having perfect spelling words was the golden key to going to recess, which was rare. Well that day Mrs. Strang said we could go to recess if we turned in our spelling words. All the other kids had gone outside and I was on the floor picking up my homework pieces crying. Mrs. Strang came over to me and silently helped me pick up the pieces then said: 'Lauren, you will be receiving an A on this assignment, you may go to recess.' 

From that point Mrs. Strang had my back, and she did it in a way that no one knew. She was a strict woman, but a kind and protective person as well. It was an honor to be her student, and she will always be the teacher I value the most. She taught us that you can be whatever you want, just never give up on yourself, and never let anyone tell you you're not good enough. She is truly missed!

I can't even begin to explain how this woman helped me to grow into the man I am today. She was my teacher 3rd through 5th grade, and also a mentor through my years of playing percussion. I'll never forget her or anything she taught me.

Heather, I was extremely saddened to learn of your mother's death....a shock to say the least. I thought she'd live to be a hundred and possibly still be teaching! Your mom was an excellent teacher who touched the lives of many children in those 45 years she taught. She expected her students to perform to the best of their abilities which brought about a definite confidence in their growing process. Both of our children, Peter and Jamie, were fortunate to have had Penny as their teacher and mentor. I'm sorry that she wasn't able to spend more of her retirement years enjoying what she had worked so hard to accomplish. She was very proud of you. When the time comes for the memorial service, please make sure you let people know through the State Journal or whatever means you choose. Many of us need to say "Good-Bye." Kate Holzhausen

Mrs. Strang taught both of my sons. My youngest son was with her for several years as she taught a split class. She was and still is his favorite teacher. He and many of his classmates feel, she made a huge difference in their education and future. I'll never forget how she took a personal interest in Taylor and Zachery. Her crazy classroom with all the projects going on. The under the sea classroom was awesome, we actually had the shark Taylor made for it on our wall for years. I only wish I would've reached out to her and let her know. We will be missing her and thinking of her at graduation. Our deepest condolences go out to her family and friends.

Mrs.Strang was my 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade teacher. I can thank her for never being able to forget the state capitals and being able to do multiplication in my sleep. She was a very strict teacher but I think it's safe to say that you could tell who had her as a teacher once you got into high school. We knew our stuff. It's crazy to think that she isn't here any longer. It's been more than 12 years since elementary school and even then we were celebrating her 100th birthday every year. She may be gone, but will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Mrs.Strang.

Penny was a wonderful teacher my daughter used to conplaine she was to hard. When she got to high school she said how happy she was for having a teacher like her that is why she was their in her class. Thank you Penny for being a wonderful teacher you Kent a lot to Morrice Schools. Rest In Peace.

Mrs. Strang was my teacher for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. She had a school-wide reputation for being tough and doing things the way she knew was best for her kids. 

She got us all to do more than we thought we were capable of and she wasn't always the most popular for doing it. Sometimes the way she taught seemed unfair against the comparative little amount demanded from other elementary students, and we would cry foul. She knew better than to give in to our grievances and she never wavered from her mission. Every person who took up her challenge, who tried to live up to her standard of near perfection, was better for it.

I came to visit her at her Morrice elementary school classroom when I got my scholarship for college. She remembered me like it was yesterday and said she knew all along that I would go somewhere. Since then I've completed my Master's degree and I am nearly finished with my PhD. I hoped I would get to see her one day after I had 'Dr.' next to my name to let her know how big of a role she played in getting me to that point. 

Though I won't get that chance anymore, I still thank you Mrs. Strang for being that constant push towards becoming someone better. You were the strict, guiding hand that made sure your students had the chance to become all they were meant to be and more.

Penny Strang was the single best elementary educator I have ever seen, and her students will always remember her impact.

Aunt Penny was always so full of life. I remember helping her grade paper at my grandmother's house, boogying down to the Beach Boys "Hood Vibrations", and admiring her drum playing. She had been missed and thought of often and will continue to be now.

Two of my three children had Penny in class and she was the favorite to both. Lindsay was a student aide for Penny her senior year and loved helping in Penny's classroom. Penny generously remembered Lindsay at graduation time and even came to her wedding years later. She was a generous person to her students, past and present! Our condolences go out to the family. I remember the under the sea project, it was one of my favorite memories from elementary. I did my report on Blue Whales.

Penny has always been one of my favorite people. We graduated high school together. She was a truly kind, honest, and trustworthy friend. She asked my to be the ring bearer at her marriage to Neil, which I gratefully accepted - of course. I was in that carload of 'men' who traveled with Neil to Pasadena CA. to "see the Rose Bowl Parade." Little did we realize that Neil had a marriage proposal in his mind and an engagement ring in his pocket. 

I am deeply saddened by her death.

Penny was a "one of a kind" Friend & the "greatest "Neighbor ever!! She was so kind, intelligent, caring, diplomatic, and always encouraging. She was someone I talked to nearly everyday for the past 14 yrs., needless to say I have many, many, wonderful memories of our times together. I will hold her in my heart, and in my prayers, ALWAYS!! I'm so sorry for your loss. Penny was a wonderful colleague for many years at Morrice. I have missed talking with her. She was great with kids and teachers alike. She will be sorely missed. RIP my friend.

She was a great teacher and was one of my favorites. Ms. Strang done so much for me and I would not be who or where I am if not for her. She will be missed greatly!

I said "Hi" to Penny a couple times, addressed her as "Mrs. Strang" when I was in the elementary. I didn't have her for a fourth, fifth or sixth grade teacher, I instead had Tammy Smith, Perkin and Kennedy. The last time I ever saw her, in fact, was probably when I left the elementary.

I only met Penny a few times,but I'm grateful for it. Because of her, I again have a house full of fur. I can remember her whenever I look at smudge, coop, and teddy.Her kindness and love for animals should shorten the path to a better place. My condolences to her family.

I moved to Morrice in 8th grade and did not have the opportunity to have Penny as a teacher. I did request both of my daughters to have her and do not regret it. My daughters thrived in Mrs. Strang's class. One of our best memories was the
"Under the Sea" Spring project when the class would turn the hallway and classroom into an underwater scene. Heather, sending comfort to you. Rest in Peace Mrs. Strang.
