

LTC, U.S. Army, Ret’d.
Born on November 30, 1935 in Detroit to Bernard and Rosemary Doyle, this proud Irishman ended this life’s journey on June 29, 2010, with his family at his side. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Mike loved as kin the friends he found on his travels. He served in the United States Army for 27 1/2 years, and upon retiring continued to serve his community as a member of the Gorsline Runciman staff and later as Director of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
His volunteer activities included Michigan Peace Team, St. Vincent dePaul, Loaves and Fishes, AYSO and USSF soccer coach and referee, MSU football sideline crew, American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, The Giving Tree Farm, the Lansing Irish American Club and 12 years with the Lansing Township Fire Department.
He is survived by Barbara, his wife of 50 years; his children Katie Doyle, Meg (John) Viggiani, Brian Doyle (fiancée Julianne Kirk) and Patrick (Kayla) Doyle; his grandchildren Michael, Daniel and Isabella Viggiani, and Mae and Beckett Doyle; his sister Nan (Dave) Haadsma, and brother Jerry (Nancy) Doyle along with their children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Ingham Regional Medical Center for the compassionate and dedicated care Mike received, as well as Mike’s many friends for their faith, love, and support.
Visitation will be held this evening, Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.
A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.
