Charles was born on August 12, 1954, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Howard and Joyce Chism. He graduated from Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek in 1974, earning an associate degree in programming. Shortly after completing his education, Charles began a long and dedicated career with Michigan National Bank, where he worked for more than 25 years. Charles enjoyed golfing, playing softball, and spending time around the card table playing cards and euchre. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Great Lakes Road Riders for some time. Gifted with his hands, Charles could build just about anything - a skill that reflected both his intelligence and his helpful nature.
Charles is survived by his children, Samantha Coston and Jeremiah (Kristen) Chism; grandchildren, Corbin, Eli, Caroline, and Emma; his father, Howard Chism; his sister, Teresa (Mark) Miller; and nieces, Meredith Miller and Mallory (Brandon) Walton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Chism.
