Clarice C. Struthers

Clarice C Struthers passed away peacefully June 25, 2023. She lived a remarkable 92 years. She has left behind the fondest memories to her extended family. Clarice is survived by her daughters, Kathy Martin; Cindy Struthers and husband Steve Smith; Shari Nussdorfer and husband James; and her son Robert Struthers, Jr and wife Julie. Clarice now joins her beloved husband, Robert Sr, daughter Nancy Struthers, son-in-Law Chuck Stanley and son-in law Stan Martin, in eternal joy.

Clarice was born in Portage, Wisconsin, in 1931. She grew up in Chicago. Clarice met her husband and Love of her Life, Robert D Struthers, while attending Monmouth College in Monmouth Illinois. They married in 1953, started a family and raised 5 children in Grand Rapids first, then Lansing Michigan. Clarice had a long and amazing career working for Ingham Medical Center. She was the manager of the first Heart Center at IMC. She then became the Executive Assistant to the president of IMC until her retirement. After retirement, Clarice remained active with the hospital Volunteer Services. She personally crafted and provided hundreds of knitted caps for the newborns at the hospital. Clarice was always active and involved with her local church supporting and serving the church and community with her time and talents through the United Methodist Women organization.

Clarice had many friends. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to her neighbors -young and old. She fed everyone who might be in attendance at mealtime, making her very popular with her kid’s friends. She was an amazing cook. Clarice was an avid bridge enthusiast and she played for keeps!

Clarice will be greatly missed by her Children. She will also be missed and fondly remembered by her grandchildren-- Kyle, Michael, Cynthia, Robert, Daniel, Jeremy, Mary, Forrest, Ethan and Claire; as well as her great-grandchildren—Justin, Bonnie, Natalie, Owen and Quinn.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Addie’s Acres, in Dewitt, MI, where Clarice received exemplary care and comfort through her end of life transition.

WE LOVE YOU MOM, GRANDMOM AND GREAT-GRAND MOM! And we are grateful for the many years that we have shared together.

A memorial service will be held August 23, 2023 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E Michigan Ave. Lansing, MI 48912. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Addie's Acres Care Home or the MSU Women's Rowing Team
