Dale served in the U.S. Army and Korean war. He graduated from Ferris State and obtained his Masters from Michigan State University. He was a teacher and basketball coach at Eaton Rapids Michigan in the 1960s. Dale started working for Lansing Community College in 1966, working as an assisting dean and an active dean over the years. He is considered to be one of the founding fathers of LCC as he put together the first media department and arts program.
Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Kay; children, Scott Dunham (Meaghan), Patrick Dunham, Dana Nelson, Berta Grounds (Emily Kemp), and Bill Grounds (Luann Parker); and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dale's memory may be made to Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 or to a cat rescue charity of your choice.
