Dan Carter, age 55, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at McLaren Hospital amongst his loving family and friends. He was born November 27, 1962 in Lansing, MI to Don and Janet Carter. He was the oldest of five siblings and proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was passionate about cooking and loved to travel. He would frequently vacation in Cancun, Florida, and northern Michigan. His greatest pleasure was watching with pride as his daughters grew and excelled in sports and academics. He never missed a game, and ensured his support was heard loud from the stands. He always looked forward to hosting parties and will forever be remembered for his unwavering hospitality. But most of all, Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. One of Dan's greatest attributes was his welcoming personality. If you met him, you were only a stranger once.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 29 years, Ann (Brown) Carter; daughters, Danielle and Mackenzie Carter; father, Donald Carter; mother, Janet (Rose) Carter; brothers, Dennis (Barb) Carter, David (Staci) Carter, and Darren (Jami) Carter; sister, DeAnna (Jason) Houghton; parents-in-law, Ken and Sandy Brown; sister-in-law, Robin (Dave) Elias; brother-in-law, Kenny (Casey) Brown; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 PM on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the service. One of Dan's life-long dreams was to assist his daughters in paying off their student loans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lake Trust Credit Union on behalf of Danielle and Mackenzie Carter. The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home.
