

Darrell was born September 21, 1933 to Gertrude and Eugene Hicks at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert. He is survived by his twin brother, Duane (Connie) Chadwell; sister-in-law, Marla Chadwell; three children, Jo (Jody) Chadwell, Steve (Julie) Chadwell, and David (Wendy) Chadwell; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell attended Eastern High School. He served in the Korean War for the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 as a Boiler Operator, and swam for the Navy Fleet Swim Team. He received a National Defence Service Ribbon and Navy Occupational Service Medal (E).
Then after Darrell received his Real Estate license he worked for WestDale, Century 21 Hubbell, both of Lansing. He also worked for Prudential WCI Realty of Marco Island as a successful Realtor.
Darrell's many interests in life were swimming, diving, music, dancing, fishing, boating, golf and cocktails during Gin Rummy games with the boys. Last but not least a very special mention of Sharon Dimmer, the love of his life, the sparkle in his eye, and his dance partner for life.
A memorial service will be held at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, MI 48917 on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 pm. A luncheon will follow at Morley S. Oats Post #701 VFW, 123 N. Rosemary St., Lansing. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Darrell's name.
