

Dell James Brokaw was born on February 14, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to Lois Alchin Brokaw and William H. Brokaw. He was united in marriage to Dolores Jean Brokaw (Opdyke) for 53 years. They had three daughters and three grandchildren.
Dell graduated from Williamston High School. After high school, Dell served in the military police and received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Western Michigan University.
Dell was a hard-working man who was a proud retiree of the General Motors Lansing Grand River Plant where he worked for 40 plus years. He also spent a number of years working part time delivering pizzas.
Dell accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age. He attended South Baptist Church and also Mt Hope Presbyterian Church where he became a church elder and enjoyed volunteering in many activities, including vacation bible school. In his elder years, he enjoyed watching church services on tv.
Dell loved spending time with his family. Some of his favorite activities included gardening, taking road trips to Lake Michigan and visiting Frankenmuth, Michigan. He was a big fan of Michigan State University sports and the Detroit Tigers.
Dell passed away October 20 ,2025. He leaves to cherish in his memory: his beloved wife Dolores, his three daughters; Amy (Dan Breyer), Elizabeth Brokaw and Kati Brokaw; his grandchildren, Lyric Smith, Amirrah Smith, and Johnny Guthaus; sisters, Linda Hammond of Portland, Oregon and Sharon Jackson (Fred) of Athens, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Brokaw; his mother, Lois Brokaw; and his brother William E. Brokaw of Palmer, Alaska.
Acting as pallbearers are: Amirrah Smith, Lyric Smith, Tino Smith, Terry Opdyke, Tom Logan and Dan Breyer. With Johnny Guthaus as an honorary pallbearer.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E Michigan Ave. Lansing, Michigan, with visitation one hour prior from 10 - 11 a.m.
Internment at East Lawn Memory Gardens in Okemos, Michigan.
