

Dorothy Jean Bickert, affectionally known as Dor to her closest friends and family, age 94, of Lansing, Michigan passed away peacefully into Heaven to join her heavenly family on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Dorothy was born on April 23, 1930 in Woodland, Michigan to the late Arthur W. and Lenna M. Bates (Wagner) as the middle child of three girls. Dorothy met the love of her life, Patrick Charles Bickert, while at a dance. The two went on to marry on April 7, 1956 and were married for 55 years.
Dorothy was a woman of strong faith, in which she found great solace.
Dorothy graduated from Woodland High School and went on to recieve her associates degree from Lansing Buisness University. Upon her college graduation, she dedicated her career to Michigan Miller Insurance and later to Pioneer Insurance. After her time with insurance, Dorothy was the church secretary for Christ United Methodist Church and later went on to work with the State of Michigan in the Department of Commerce, and went on to retire from the Michigan Department of Labor.
Dorothy is preceeded in death by her husband Patrick Bickert, parents Arthur and Lenna Bates, sisters Maxine Wortly (Gailen) and Elaine Richard (Charles). Dorothy is lovingly survived by her loving son Jeffrey L. Bickert, grandson Cameron W. Bickert (Luz), and great-grandson Owen W. Bickert, many neices and nephews, as well as her dear friends Holly Rust and her husband Ted.
The Bickert family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Red Cedar Lodge, the staff of CorsoCare Hospice, especially to Megan, Chelsea, Al, Carrie and Grant. She held you all very close to her heart.
Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
