Born on August 21, 1944, in Martin, TN, to Eddie and Adell Brewer, Ray's journey through life was marked by a deep love for his family, his country, and an unwavering commitment to faith. A graduate of Eastern High School, Lansing, MI, class of 1962, Ray proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from March 1966 to March 1968.

An avid sports fan, Ray's heart belonged to Michigan State Basketball. In his youth, he showcased his athletic abilities on the softball field, playing in City of Lansing leagues and later, on various adult teams. His quick wit, sarcasm, and infectious sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew him.
