Erik “Butch” Pedersen, 77, of Lansing, Michigan went to rest with our Lord on December 4, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Butch was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Erik and Josephine (Savat) Pedersen on August 9, 1948. He grew up in Redford Township with his four siblings, Sharon, Michael, Kristopher, and Debbie. He graduated from Thurston High School in 1966. He attended Michigan State University before enlisting in the US Army. He married his wife, Mary in 1970. Butch worked most of his career for the for the phone company, which included Michigan Bell, AT&T, and Sprint. He later worked for Kroger until he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary; his daughters, Heather (Jim) Troshak, Kamma (Andrew) Grabowski, Josie (Tyler) Bailey; 9 grandchildren, Lukas, Sophia, Piper, Nathan, Zoey, Nixon, Nash, Gracie, and Lennon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael, and his grandson, Maverick.
Visitation will be held at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel, located at 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI, 48917, on December 10, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 pm.
The funeral Mass will take place at St Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI, 48917, on December 11, 2025, at 10:30 am, with the family receiving friends from 9:30 until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Erik’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or your local VFW.
