Age 90; born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 24, 1921, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sparrow Hospital after a short illness, Friday, April 13, 2012. Frank was a proud veteran who served four years in the United States Navy including The Battle of Okinawa in World War II. He supported all servicemen and women. He was an Executive with the Theodore Hamm Brewing Company for 26 years. After his retirement, he continued his career with Pabst Brewing Company. Frank’s sense of humor and his sincere interest in the well-being of others were all aspects of his personality that drew so many lifelong friends to him and his family. Frank would remind us all, “When you have your family, you have everything.” His greatest legacy of all, however, was his happy spirit of thankfulness and deep faith in God, which was his companion throughout his entire life. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Winifred Brewer, and brother, James. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Maxie, of 63 years; his son, Frank J. Brewer, II; his daughters, Victoria (Thom) Kirby, Mary Katherine (Jim) Strahan and Linda (Jim) St. John; grandchildren, Kimberly (Dane) Olsen, Kyle Kirby, David (Brynn) Strahan, Jeffrey Strahan, Trevor Strahan, TJ (Alina) St. John, Derek (Maria) St. John, Shanin (Wayne) Ostrander and Ryan St. John; great-grandchildren, Avery, Camryn, Katelyn, Kelsey and 3 great-grandsons arriving this summer. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nell Doris and his loyal companion, his dog Dolly. Celebration services for Frank will be held on Friday, April 20, at 11:00 AM at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Gerald Ploof officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM with Rosary at 7:30 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI. Private burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Frank to the Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108 or American Lung Association in Michigan, 25900 Greenfield Road, Ste. 610, Oak Park, MI 48237.
