

Gary Lee Gardner, aged 85, passed away on October 23, 2024, in Lansing, MI. Born on August 29, 1939, in Mason, MI, Gary was known for his big personality, big “bear hugs”, sense of humor, and love for his family; a true conversationalist, he brought life to every room he entered. Gary had a passion for motorsports, including NASCAR and Formula One Racing. He was also an avid sports fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Michigan State University basketball and football teams.
After graduating from Mason High School, Gary proudly served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963, dedicating himself to the service of his country with the same vigor and commitment that characterized much of his life. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career at General Motors, where he worked for 30 years, taking pride in his contributions towards building American-made cars.
Throughout his retirement years, Gary enjoyed family vacations to Las Vegas with his wife (Gina), brother (Jim), “double” cousin (Bruce), and other family members. They enjoyed attending shows, playing slots, side trips to Utah, and drives to visit California family.
Gary leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years, Gina Gardner, dedicated brother, Jim Gardner, and two children, Lisa (Mark) Jarsen and Kevin (Lorraine) Gardner. He is also survived by his granddaughter Savannah Henson (Clayton), and his great-granddaughter Cailyn Henson.
Preceded in death by his parents Carl and Jessie Gardner and sister Janet Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a fund set up for his great-granddaughter, Cailyn Haileigh Henson. Contributions to this fund will honor Gary's legacy and commitment to his family by supporting the aspirations of his beloved great-granddaughter
