George was born in Huntingburg, Indiana and his family relocated to Lansing, Michigan where he was raised. He graduated from Sexton High School and went on to become an accomplished Oil Technician. However, his greatest source of pride and joy was his family. George's love knew no bounds, and his greatest accomplishment in life was undoubtedly the love and bond he shared with his children and grandchildren.
George was a man of simple pleasures who found immense joy in the company of his family and loved ones. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, and barbecuing, and he cherished every moment spent outdoors with those he held dear. His warm smile and infectious laughter brought light into the lives of all who knew him.
Described by those who knew him as the kindest, most loving, and reliable person, George had a heart of gold. He was a true gentleman, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, without ever expecting anything in return. George was a towering figure of love and strength, a gentle giant with a heart as big as the sky. He was a loving father, cherished grandfather, and a beloved friend to many. George's departure from this world leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
George is survived by his children: Brandi Newton, Stephen Newton, Nichole Smith, Kitina Newton, Ethan Newton and Ian Newton; grandchildren: Taylor, Alexis, Nicholas, Iszak, Summer, Jeremiah, Makayla, Trinity, Brooklynn, Nacho Jr., Teagan, Grayson and Arielle; siblings: Robert Englert, Timothy Newton, Teresa Cartwright, Cynthia Sleight and Kelly Budd; and nieces and nephews: Jeffery Hatfield, April Hatfield, Tazha Englert, Stacy Englert, Joshua Englert, Crystal Castel, Winona Sleight, Mark Zildka and Tracie Maurer. He is preceded in death by his parents: George M. Newton Sr. and Ethel Newton (nee Spencer).
A funeral service for George will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48917.
