Lansing, Michigan
We are sorry to announce the passing of our dear husband and brother, Gerald Michael Spencer, known to his wide circle of family and friends as Jerry. A Michigan native, Jerry was born in Detroit on August 19, 1959 and grew up in Royal Oak. He met and married his wife of 31 years, Christine, in Lansing, where they resided ever since. He passed away peacefully on August 29, 2015 at the age of 56 at the Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, surrounded by his family. Besides Christine and his beloved husky, Hana, Jerry is survived by brothers, William (Jean), Wilfred (Beverly), James (Lynnette), Jeffrey; sister Tina; along with many nieces and nephews. For over 30 years he was employed at Elderly Instruments of Lansing, where he developed a wide knowledge and appreciation of instruments and music. His other interests included history and antiques and, like his brothers, he was an accomplished cook. He was charming, humorous, and gracious to the last, and leaves us all with loving memories of him. He was a friend of Bill’s for over five years. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Rev. Dick Preston officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service and also following the service. For those desiring, contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, PO Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909 or Alcoholics Anonymous, 1500 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912 in memory of Gerald M. “Jerry” Spencer.
