Was born June 24th 1933 to Sitharmayya Gondy and Sitharamamma Bhavineni in India and died March 22nd, 2011 in Lansing at the age of 77. Mr. Rao retired as the Director of Financial Analysis and Chief Financial Economist of the Michigan Public Service Commission. His passion was to promote education and he was a professor, teacher and self motivator. He also was a founder of the Haslett Hindu Temple and served on the board of directors of the temple in Haslett and Las Vegas. He was able to see the best in everyone he met and always had a positive outlook on life. In his spare time he loved to read and garden.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; Gondy, daughter Dr. Vani (Dr. Ramesh) Avula, son Dr. Sudhir (Dr. Rama) Rao, four grandchildren, two sisters and many cousins.
Mr. Rao’s family will receive friends on Thursday March 24th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. Should friends desire contributions may be made to Bharatiya Temple, 955 Haslett Rd., Haslett, MI 48840 in Mr. Rao’s memory.
