

Grace M. Herta, of Elk Rapids, formerly of Royal Oak, was born on October 22, 1925 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Harold Moore and Isabel Dark. She passed away Feb. 2, 2017 at the age of 91. Grace married Frank Herta on May 14, 1949 and had five children. She had a passion for music and was a lifelong violinist for the Oakland County Orchestra, Traverse Symphony Orchestra and the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra. Along with being an accomplished violinist, she was also a docent at the Dennos Museum and member of the Delta Omicron Sorority. She enjoyed being an active member of the Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce and Garden Club. Grace was an Episcopalian and most recently a member of St. Paul’s Church of Elk Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Frank Herta. She will be remembered by her daughters, Pam (Ron) Brown, Louise Herta and Nancy Herta; sons, Harold (Nancy) Herta and Doug (Kimsa) Herta. She will also be remembered by her 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends an hour prior at the funeral home.
