James M. Crafton, age 57, died peacefully at home in the presence of his family on October 23, 2011. He was born April 13, 1954 in Lansing, MI to Allen and Helen (Minich) Crafton. Jim is predeceased by his father, Allen and his brother, Tom. For many years Jim suffered with a heart condition that slowly took away his ability to do his favorite things like fishing and camping with his family or creating more of his amazing wood carvings. The strength of his will and determination to stay with his family never faltered. He met and married his devoted wife, Bridgette, while serving in the Navy. After raising their three children, Jim stayed strong enough to welcome and play with his first grandchild. He lived and died exactly the way he wanted – with honor and dignity. Surviving besides his wife and mother is his son, Tom; daughters, Mandy (Jason) Foote and Sarah; grandson, Jason James (JJ); brother John and eight sisters, Kay O’Meara, Judy Moody, Barbara Radigan, Sr. Nancy Crafton, Mary Jo Gillilland, Carole Westrin, Jeanne Pettengill and Kristine Glew. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:00am at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour, Lansing, MI with visitation being held one hour prior at the church. Contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906.
