James Bert Niles

James “Jim” Niles, 65, of Lansing passed away peacefully April 7, 2017 at University of Michigan Hospital. He was born August 29, 1951 in Lansing to Richard and Yvonne Niles. Jim served in the US Army. He was a member of South Baptist Church. He was an avid Spartan fan and enjoyed watching football and basketball. He had a green thumb for gardening and enjoyed the beaches at Lake Michigan.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Margaret; son Ryan James Niles; grandchildren: Marissa and Jack; mother Yvonne Niles; brothers: Wayne (Judy) Niles, Cary Niles, Craig (Michele) Niles. He is preceded in death by his father.

A celebration of his life will be July 15, 2017 from 2-6pm at Pretty lake, Mecosta, Michigan. The family would like to thank the staff of the University of Michigan Hospital trauma burn unit for the care they received. Donations may be given in his honor to the University of Michigan Hospital trauma burn unit, 1500 E Medical Center Dr, Ann Arbor, MI 48109.
