Houghton Lake
James R. Galligan, 84, died in St. Helens, Michigan on August 26, 2010. He had been a resident of Lansing for more than 60 years before retiring to Houghton Lake in 1996. Mr. Galligan served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Kadashan Bay in World War II from 1944 to 1946. He worked in management at the Board of Water and Light for 38 years and was a talented musician who entertained Lansing area residents for nearly 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his sister, Aletha; his children, Roxanne, James, and Juanita; as well as four grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010 in Lansing at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave. at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MI Great Lakes Chapter, 310 N. Main St., #100, Chelsea, MI 48818, in memory of Mr. Galligan.
