Jane C. (Rogers) (Finney) Bandy

Jane departed this world on August 9, 2013 to be with her Lord. She was born on October 3, 1933 to Reverend Russell and Lela (Lawler) Rogers in Chicago, Illinois. She moved to Dresden, Tennessee while a child and then to Lansing, Michigan in July 1953 to make her home. She was predeceased by her parents; husband George B. Bandy Sr; a brother, John L. Rogers, her only sibling; stepson Philip Bandy and great granddaughter Emma N. Woods. She attended Lansing Community College and retired in 1989 after 25 years of service from the State of Michigan, Treasury Department, Collection Division as Supervisor of State Agency Collections Section and Tax Correspondence Unit. She loved her extended family and serving her Lord. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Moose Lodge 288 and SERA. She enjoyed gardening and playing music especially with her late husband. She leaves to mourn her going, three sons: Thomas (Tanya) Finney, Roger (Theresa) Finney and David Finney; one daughter, Karen B. (Mark L.) Smith; a foster daughter, Janet (Alberto) Cortez; eleven grandchildren: Nicole (Andy) Finney- Gay, Sara, Alissa, Marie, Kara and Jenna Finney; Billie, Nicholas and Katie Smith and Jacob and Robert Cortez. She also leaves her beloved stepchildren, George Jr. (Linda) Bandy; Ray (Trudy) Bandy; Charles (Joyce) Bandy; Cassie (Ken) Waterman; and step daughter in law Shirley Bandy; fourteen step grandchildren and twenty step great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Discover Life Church, 1000 Lincoln Ave, Lansing, Michigan with The Reverend Justin Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at Discover Life Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Bandy’s honor to Kaleo Church, 2405 E. Mt.
