Jane Jenks Fitzgerald

Jane Ann (Jenks) Fitzgerald of DeWitt passed away Wednesday, September 3, following a courageous battle with cancer that was waged with tremendous faith and grace. Jane was born February 23, 1966, to Raymond and Geraldine (Gerri) Jenks. Jane graduated from Charlotte High School, and after holding several retail and business jobs, became a medical billing specialist and worked for Lansing Ophthalmology for 15 years. On June 14, 1997 she married Russell Fitzgerald, who survives, together with their son Sam. Jane's family includes her parents, Ray and Gerri of Paris, Michigan; her mother-in-law, Betty Fitzgerald of Lansing; her brother and sister-in-law David and Barbara Jenks, of Arkansas; her sister and brother-in-law Charlene and Brian DeKoninck of Albion, Michigan; her sister and brother-in-law Connie and John Yergin, of Indianapolis, Indiana; Russell's sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Robert Milne of Kalamazoo; and many nieces and nephews. Jane had many artistic talents including hand making cards, scrapbooking, crochet and embroidery, gardening, and interior design. She was devoted to her family and loved animals, adopting a dog, Jasper, and a cat, Squirt, from the Humane Society. Jane's kindness and friendship will be missed by many. Services will be held Monday, September 9, at 11:00am at University Lutheran Church, 1020 S. Harrison Rd., East Lansing, Michigan. Visitation will be at the church, one hour prior to the service. Luncheon will immediately follow the service, with interment at 2:00pm at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 4444 N. Grand River Ave. and Airport Rd. in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sam's college trust fund, payable to Samuel E. Fitzgerald, c/o Merrill Lynch, 2501 Coolidge Rd., East Lansing, Michigan 48823; or to American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Rd., East Lansing, Michigan.
