

He was born on May 11, 1934, in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. He married Nancy Jean Stuart on September 8, 1956, in Lansing, Michigan.
He was a graduate of Eastern High School, Class of 1952, and attended Michigan State College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, followed by service in the Michigan National Guard from 1958 to 1966. In 1966, he began working at Auto-Owners, where he remained until his retirement in 1999. He was a long-time member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
Jack enjoyed spending time up north at the cottage with family and his golden retriever, Skippy. He also enjoyed boating, bicycling, woodworking, being on the water, and playing the piano. He was clever, resourceful and had a strong work ethic, and he was always willing to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and niece. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; 3 daughters: Julie (James) Dartt, Ellen (Daniel) Dionise, and Susan Beyerhelm; and five grandsons: Alexander and Andrew Dartt, Louis (Alysia), Thomas (Sarah), and Matthew Dionise; and brother-in-law, James (Janet) Stuart.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Courtyard of Delta and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
In honor of Jack's wishes a private family memorial is being held.
