She passed away on May 30th, 2025 at St. Lawrence Hospice.
Josie moved to California after graduating from Gabriel's High School in 1968. That is where she attended Barber school. She then moved to Florida and worked as a barber for many years before moving back to Lansing.
Josie is survived by three sisters, Mary Stornant, Trina McAvoy, and Virginia McAvoy. A special thank you to nephew, Scott Pentecost for being Josie's caretaker. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and great nephews. She is also survived by her great friend, Karen Gerughty.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard McAvoy.
There will be a memorial visitation at Gorsline Runciman on Michigan Avenue on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
