
Born June 18, 1934 in Mason, the daughter of the late Russell and Dorothy (Ferris) Smith, passed away May 24, 2013 at the age of 78. Joyce graduated from Mason High School in 1952. She was hired into General Motors in 1976, retiring in 2006 after 30 years of service. She was an avid reader, loved animals, particularly cats. Joyce loved watching football and was an MSU Spartan fan. She also enjoyed dining at the large variety of restaurants in the Lansing area and sight-seeing animals on the MSU campus. Preceded in death by her parents; and former husband, John De Vet. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Barry De Vet (Kelli Klein) of Howell, and Brian (Debbie) De Vet; grandchildren, Rachelle Morris, Amanda De Vet and Jonathon (Erin) De Vet, all of Howell; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Morris, Amaya Morris, Lola Sipple, and Easton De Vet. The family is grateful to Lorrie (Joe) Kemp of Lansing for all of her help and friendship. Thank you Lorrie. Private graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
