Kenneth "Red" Leonard Burch, age 74, of Charlotte, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Red was born September 15, 1945, the son of Ralph and Frances Burch. He grew up in Lansing and graduated from Eastern High School in 1964. In 1996 he retired from the Lansing Board of Water and Light after 31 years of service. Following his retirement he worked as a crossing guard for the Lansing School District. He was an umpire and scorekeeper for several parks and recreation leagues and loved attending baseball games. Red was a huge MSU sports and Detroit Lions fan. Red was a loud and larger than life person. He enjoyed riding with the Charlotte Fire Department during parades. Red and his son Jamie were the 2019 Portland Raiders Baseball Fundraiser Euchre Champions.
Surviving are his children, Jody Burch, Kim (Clay) Launer, Jamie (Michelle) Burch; brother, Randy (LeAnn) Burch; grandchildren, Montana, Chase, Spencer, Colby, Josh, Hunter, and Makena; former spouse and close friend, Katherine Burch; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brian and Tiffany Matson for all of the assistance provided to our father Red with home repairs, his crazy requests, and just visiting and being there for him.
A visitation for Red will be held Monday, January 6, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Lansing Parks and Recreation, 200 N. Foster Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912.
