Born October 18, 1929 in Lansing to the late Wesley and Juanita (Welch) Dorin passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the age of 85. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Larry was a retiree of General Motors.
Larry loved spending time with his family. In his younger years he especially enjoyed fishing and camping along the shores of Lake Superior on family vacations and his trips to hunting camp. In his later years he enjoyed time spent around the kitchen table on Friday nights with his family talking over coffee and dessert about his years spent as a child with his extended family in Sunfield. Larry was a longtime supporter and volunteer of the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jennie Dorin, son Larry John Dorin, grandson Kurt Cook, son in-law Dale Harper, brothers Kenny, Wes and Mickey Dorin, and sister Deanna Cook. He is survived by his children Roseanna Harper, Pat (Robby) Higgins, Denise (Rick) Pearl and Janet (Mike) Roe. He is also survived by six grandchildren Amanda (Dave) Martin, Erik Harper, Stacey and Ryan Pearl, and Christopher and Elizabeth Roe, 5 great-grandchildren, one sister Sally Quirin, brothers Jim and Raymond Dorin, brother-in-law Warren Cook and sisters-in-law Virginia Andersen and Elaine Dorin.
We would like to extend special thanks to the staff of the St. Lawrence Outpatient Dialysis Center for their wonderful care. They all had a special place in his heart.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw Street, Lansing with internment at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing. Visitation is Tuesday, from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Michigan Wildlife Conservancy or the Delta Township District Library to be dedicated to large print books or to their Woodlands Downloadable Library.
