Lenora M. Simmons

Our loving mother and grandmother passed away August 15, 2012 at the age of 87. Lenora was born August 23, 1924 in Lansing the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Starks) Ostrander. She worked as a restaurant employee for many years. She will be remembered for the loving care she took of her home and her family. Lenora loved to bake and listen to country music. She was beloved by the staff and residents at Hazel Findlay Manor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 55 years, Franklin D. Simmons in December of 1998; son, David Lee Mead; as well as her siblings. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rosemary Lindenschmidt of Seffner, FL; sons, Franklin C. Simmons of Lansing, and Ronald F. (Suann) Mead or Owosso, MI; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI with the Rev. Dean Rhine of Bethel Evangelical Free Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
