He is proceeded in death by his parents; and son, SFC Matthew L. Hilton during Operation Enduring Freedom, in Afghanistan in 2008.
Survived to cherish his memory is his; daughter, Jeanine Hilton; daughter-in-law, Mary Hilton; grandchildren, Hailie and Brent Robinson; and his beloved dog, Max.
Leon worked for the City of Lansing from 1967-2001 during those years, he was president of LEIU from 1970-1987. In 1987 he moved the LEIU to the UAW to form UAW Local 2256. He served as president with the UAW Local 2256 from 1987-2005. When he retired he enjoyed spending time at his second home at Houghton Lake, where you could find him boating, and sitting on his deck enjoying life.

Services will be held at Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 East Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912 on March 10, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., visitation 2 hours prior to service.
