Margaret?s home was always a gathering place for friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and needlepoint, which included Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren. She also made over 50 baby afghans for the neo-natal unit at Sparrow Hospital, and made over 50 cat blankets for the Eaton County Humane Society. Margaret said that she would never dress like an old lady, and she never did. She laughed, she loved, and she was never judgmental. She was a very good listener. She never learned to drive, never was on a plane, never learned to swim or how to ride a bike, but she traveled to every continental state and Canada. She played piano for and taught beginner?s Sunday school at Grand Ledge United Methodist Church. She was born and raised a city girl until she married and was relocated to the country where she learned about rural life.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John & Carrie Crismore; first husband of 40 years Byron Bishop; second husband of 22 years Lester Curry; son Byron Bishop Jr.; brother Ford Crismore; and great granddaughter Ruthie Cutter.
She is survived by her children Joan (Melvin) Briggs of Ionia, Thomas (Gearoldine) Bishop of Lansing, Barry (Beverly) Bishop of Holt; step children Rosemary (Bill) Bauer of Lansing, Janice (Peter) Winarski of Battle Creek, Maxine (Mike) Plotnick of Potterville, Sydney Curry of Agusta GA, Douglas Curry of Lansing; daughter-in-law Patricia Bishop of Portland; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
As per her wishes, a private family service will be held. Arrangements by Tiffany Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Margaret?s name to Samaritan?s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
