Maria Isabel Velez

Maria Isabel Velez of Lansing, Michigan went home to be with her Lord on January 5, 2018 at the age of 70. She was born August 8, 1947 in Guadalajara Jalico, Mexico to Federico Castell and Antonia Chavez. She was a devout Christian, loving her Lord with all her heart. She was a member of House of Restoration Church of God.

Maria married William Velez on November 25, 1974. They shared a happy marriage for 43 years. She was a homemaker and housewife, caring for her family and raising 2 children. She loved spending time with her best friend - her loving husband William - as well as with her church family.

She and William loved spending time together fishing, camping, shopping, cleaning the house - whenever or wherever you saw Maria, you saw William. She loved helping others and was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William; son, Dennis (LeAnn); daughter, Antonia Velez; stepson, Jose Velez - all of Lansing. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Grace (Chuck) Moloney of Pennsylvania; 3 sisters, Elivara, Sara, and Maxina Castell; and brother, Salvador Castell - all of Mexico. Other survivors include grandsons, Joey Quesada and Carlos Velez; 8 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Capitol City Church of God, 6228 Bishop Rd., Lansing with Pastor Pablo Cordero Lopez officiating.
