Marie Summers-Murphy

Lansing, Michigan

God received a Precious Angel in Heaven on May 10, 2013. She was born July 6 1925 in Martin, Tennessee. Marie was a resident of Lansing for many years and was currently living at Green Acres in Mason, MI since November 2012. She was a daycare provider known as Mama Rea and foster parent for many years who loved all the children she cared for. She also loved going to the family cottage at Chippewa Lake. Preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Summers and Chester Murphy, grandson, Zachary Rutledge and son-in-law, Thomas Doyle. Surviving are her children, Joyce (Larry) Jones, Harold (Olga) Summers, Ronald (Susan) Summers, Kathy Doyle, Tammy Summers, Barb Gibson and Barbara Summers; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 11:00 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Tuesday one hour before the services. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Hospice Services and the staff at Green Acres in Mason.
