She faithfully attended Judson Memorial Baptist Church since 1952 where she dedicated her life to Christ and began her journey of serving the Lord. She volunteered in the nursery, taught senior high Sunday school, youth group, led bible studies for several years and worked as the church secretary. She sang in the church choir at both Judson church and First Baptist of Boynton Beach (attending since 1982). She helped with dinners and coffee hours. In her younger years, she served as a camp counselor at Lake Louise Christian Community, Boyne Falls, Michigan.
Marilyn will be remembered mostly for her big heart and her contagious laughter. She loved driving around town and showing off their 1999 convertible Chevy, Camaro.
Her family is left with so many joyful memories of happy times. She was sure to send birthday and anniversary cards without fail letting each one know how proud she was of them and how much she loved them. Her greatest joy was her family. She married James Harmon, September 10, 1955 they were married 53 years before his passing. They raised four children guiding them by leadership, and example to love the Lord. Shortly after their marriage they opened their business, Harmon Builders, Inc. They worked hard to build the business into a successful company. The family came together to contribute, offering a strong work ethic and sense of unity.
Her happy place was the cottage that she and her husband built on Horsehead Lake, Mecosta, MI. She enjoyed every moment. It was her sacred sanctuary.
She used to say that the best gifts come in small packages if anyone referenced her height. God gave us the best gift in the smallest package! We will miss her laughter, her smile, her hugs and her love.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Harmon; parents, Albert and Helen Henrys. Surviving are her sons, Peter (Frieda Foster) Harmon, Steven (Grace) Harmon, daughters Kimberly (Will) Fouts, Cynthia Harmon; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and sister, Joanne Gray.
A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Michigan.
