Age 84, our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called home to his Lord on September 27, 2014. Born June 5, 1930 in Lansing, MI. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired as Captain after 28 years with the Lansing Fire Department. He was a member of St. Gerard Church, Moose, Elks, Eagles #1039, V.F.W. #701, and Downtown Coaches Club. He was an avid sportsman,and loved fishing, boating, being a M.S.U. fan, holding season tickets for football. For many years, he wintered in Florida.
Surviving are his daughter, Nancy (Mark) House; 2 sons, James Stump, and Timothy (Paulette) Stump; step-daughter, Cynthia Gaskin; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Stump; special friend, Jan Hafely; and many friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Sr. & Marcia (Crell) Stump; step-mother, LaVern Stump; step-son, Marcus Gaskin.
Visitation is from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. Wednesday with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 2, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at church. Rite of committal Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, St. Gerard Church, or the Downtown Coaches Club in memory of Marvin.
