Olivia Amy Nokken, 18, of East Lansing, passed away on February 2, 2016. She
was born in Lansing on October 19, 1997.
Olivia was a strong willed and independent child who was wise beyond her years.
Everyone who knew Olivia saw that she was not only beautiful on the outside, but
was beautiful on the inside as well. She loved her brothers and sisters dearly and
she believed in equality for everyone. She had a passion for yoga and exercising.
Olivia was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jerry Smith, and
paternal grandfather, Curtis Rodney Nokken. Surviving to cherish her memory are
her mother, Portia (Darrin) VanPelt; father, David (Martha) Nokken; two brothers,
Konar Nokken and Samuel VanPelt; two sisters, Frey and Laila Nokken; maternal
grandmother, Karen (Gerald) Cribley; paternal grandmother, Janet Livingston;
paternal grandfather, Norm Livingston; four aunts, Kammy Johns, Renee Smith,
Kelly Page and Lori Nokken; numerous cousins and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E.
Michigan Ave., Lansing, on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Dr.
Harold DeMott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Black Lives Matter, at
