Robert D. McGowan

Robert D. McGowan, 75, died November 2, 2014 in Lansing, Michigan. He was born July 20, 1939 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Michael and Lillian (Slocum) McGowan. Robert was a resident of Lansing since 1963. He served in the U.S Navy during the Bay of Pigs 1959-1963. Robert retired from General Motors after 38 years of service as an electrician. He was an avid hunter and fisher. Robert loved country music. He graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1959.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Lillian; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his wife Sally of 47 years; two daughters Rose McGowan and Lisa Rhyndress; one son Robert McGowan II; four grandchildren Kristin (Chris) Lautner, David McGowan, David Rhyndress, and Rachel Rhyndress.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Valley Farms Baptist Church, 1141 East State Street, Lansing, Michigan 48906 officiated by Rev. Dave Leisman. Internment will take place immediately following at Gunnisonville Cemetery, DeWitt, Michigan with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, 6-8p.m.
