Robert was born the oldest of 8, and he took the responsibility of an "oldest child" to heart. Whether it was his wife, mom, bonus kids, siblings, grandkids, or great grandkids, he made sure everyone was taken care of and tried his best to put smiles on their faces.
He was not one to sit still - except for the retirement naps he perfected in the last couple of years. Generally, he had to have something to do. But, no matter what he had to do, if you called with something you needed, he was on the way before you could finish asking.
He was not just there, he was engaged, attentive, listening, and would move mountains if he could. It never mattered what you needed; from car rides or repairs, financial help, someone to talk to, or tapping into his knowledge, he was more than willing.
Robert had a vast knowledge base, and if you asked him, he would tell you anything you asked about, and then some. He would always give the knowledge, answer the questions, and somehow every conversation also had a story. Robert not only had stories of a lifetime, but he had a way of telling them, full of enthusiasm like you were living in the moment.
Robert never expected anything in return. He rarely asked for help himself, even when he knew he should. He gave graciously which is probably why he loved Santa so much. They had a lot in common... love, care, giving spirits, the beard, and a laugh that could shake a belly like a bowl full of jelly. His family was his happiness.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert G. Sabin; his grandson, Nicholas Boerman; and his great-grandson, Austin Graves.
Robert is survived by his wife, May Wickham-Sabin; mother, Angie Sabin; bonus kids, Cindy Boerman, Jeff Holford, and Denise Hamilton; siblings, George (Tammy) Sabin, John (Marie) Sabin, Bonnie (George) Hurrell, Angie Hague, Patrick (Brandy) Sabin, Michael (Jamie) Sabin, and Susan (Ron) Moore; grandkids, Randi Boerman, Josh Boerman, Autumn (Aaron) Graves, Chad Holdford, Robert Holford, Olivia Holford, and Brooklyn (Logan) McCormick; great-grandkids, Railyn, Zaida, and Nolan Eingle, Kaylyn, Keegan, Mackenzie, and Hayley Graves, Theo and Rowan McCormick, and Zidane Salinas; nephews and nieces, Gary, Sean, Alex, Derek, Amber Sabin, Richard Hurrell, Justin and Ryan Hague, Erin (Dave) Shelton, and Moises and Mariah Moore; and many more family and friends.
