Ronald J. Zimmerman, age 68, died on September 13, 2018. Ron was born to Paul and Donna Zimmerman in Lansing on April 29, 1950. He attended Walnut School for a short time and then moved to Coldwater, Michigan.
Ron returned to Lansing in 1975 and lived in a series of group homes and apartments supported by staff of the Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health Authority. From his involvement in these programs he learned about self-determination and how to advocate for himself. Ron was employed by Dean Transportation of Lansing.
Ron is survived by many friends and colleagues to whom he continually brought joy with his infectious smile and laugh. He is also survived by his adopted family, the Sanfords who made sure every holiday was special.
Appreciation goes to the caring staff at Ingham County Medical Care Facility. They provided excellent care and support to Ron for many years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 am at ICMCF, 3860 Dobie Road Okemos, Michigan.
