Ruth Ann Miller

St. Johns – Formerly of Lansing

Age 83, died May 26, 2011; born October 28, 1927 in Johnstown, PA. Mrs. Miller loved children; she was an instructional aide at Allen Street School for 20 years and volunteered at Resurrection School for many years. Her biggest hope was that she made a difference in the lives of children. She had a strong Lutheran heritage and her grandfather, father and oldest son all became Lutheran pastors. She was an Altar Guild member at Grace Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane “Duke” on March 1997, sister, Barbara VanCott and nephew, Curt VanCott. Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Christine Post of Warren; sons, Rev. Duane (Paula Connolly) Miller of West Des Moines, IA and Eric (Jodi) Miller of St. Johns; 4 grandchildren, Karl Miller, Rachel (David) Bleich, Allyson Miller and Samantha Miller. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, at Noon at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Pastor Dan Johnson of Grace Lutheran Church and Deacon John Amthor of St. Joseph Shrine Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Sunday from 3-6 PM and Tuesday 1 hour prior to the service.
