Susan was a strong, funny, and deeply caring woman who was fiercely protective of those she loved. She carried a sense of invincibility and lived life on her own terms, never afraid to speak her mind. Her presence was bold, her spirit unforgettable, and she left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially in tending to her flower beds, caring for her plants, and watching the birds she loved so much. At her core, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her whole heart. She was an incredible grandmother—steadfast, loving, and deeply present—who cherished every moment with her grandchildren and poured her heart into each of them. They were her greatest pride and her deepest joy, and she made sure everyone she met knew just how much they meant to her. Above all, Susan was a caretaker—someone who showed up for others, often putting their needs before her own.
She is survived by her children, Jenny (husband Jody) and their children Skye and Nathan; Nicole (husband Steve) and their children Ben and Molly; and Karie (husband Doug) and their children Samantha, Kayla, and Nicole; as well as Josh and Chelsey and their children Grayson, Lakelynn, and Nora. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Waylon, George, June, Liam, Lilah, and Oliver, with one more on the way; as well as her sister, Valerie Zuvuya of Las Vegas, Nevada; and brother, Billy Sammons of Haslett, Michigan.
Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912, US, on April 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
