

Walter Kenneth Whitford (Wally) was called home on February 8, 2025, at the age of 47 In Lansing’s McLaren Hospital. He was surrounded by family members who sent him on his journey and welcomed by all those family members who preceded before him.
Walter was born in Lansing on July 7,1977 to Keith and Connie Whitford of Lansing, Michigan. Walter lived at his parent’s home for all his 47 years of life with his sister Kim and parents Keith and the late Connie.
Walter was never married and had no children of his own. Walter was a graduate of Lansing’s Everett high school. Walter very much enjoyed his toy train hobby that he shared with the rest of the family, attending shows, doing repairs and just all-around enjoyment that the hobby brought to him. When he was in his youth, he would spend a lot of time pushing the train cars around the house on the family's outdoor railroad. Walter also enjoyed watching movies, listening to Elvis Presley, die-cast car collection and enjoyed his Simplicity tractors. Walter also had a favorite collage team, MSU Spartans. Walter also was a big help around the house tending to the needs of his dad (Keith) and doing light household duties.
Walter is survived by his father Keith Whitford; older brother Edward Whitford (Darlene) of Mason, older sister Amy Moye (Whitford) of Lansing and his younger sister Kimberly Whitford of Lansing. Walter had one niece Victoria Moye and three nephews, Alexander Moye (Amy) Zacharia (USN) and Gavin Whitford (Edward); Bob Whitford (uncle), Ann Poppe (aunt) along with several cousins and numerous pets.
Walter was predeceased by his mother Connie Whitford; paternal grandparents: Kenneth and Bertha Whitford; maternal grandparents: Walter Sr. and Margret Flamme; Walter Flamme (Uncle), Marlene Flamme (Aunt), Donna Havens (Aunt), Kenny Whitford (Uncle) and Jerry Whitford (Uncle) and numerous pets.
The family of Walter humbly request that family and friends wear something MSU and dress casually or in whatever they feel comfortable in. Suits and ties are not necessary or required. Think of it as you are just coming over to visit and to see what’s up, as faith will have it, we will all see one another again in our heavenly home.
A celebration of a life well lived will take place on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 12:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral home located at 900 E, Michigan Ave, Lansing, Michigan 48912. Pastor Janet Shaffer from Robbins United Methodist Church 6419 Bunker Rd, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827 to officiate. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
