Zackary Robert Boyer, age 24 passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 after a long battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Zack graduated from Waverly High School in 2015 and attended Central Michigan University, where he studied journalism. He was a sports writer for the D-Zone and Mount Pleasant Sun. He also worked for CMU where his bonus mom, Chantel, kept him in line. He was a die-hard football fan, holding Detroit Lions season tickets with his father. He loved hanging with family and friends, whether it was at a concert, sporting events, or just a backyard bonfire. His favorite place in the world was Nana and Poppy's house in the U.P. where he just spent time before his passing.
Surviving are his mother, Kelly Boyer; father, Steve Abbott; grandmother, Ann Boyer; uncle, Mark Boyer; cousins, Payton and Maycie Boyer; close friends, Josh, Jorge, Max, August, Dan, Travis, Claire, Rebekah, and Andy; cat, Marvin Labatt; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his "Poppy", Robert Boyer; great-grandmother, Lorraine Edwards; great-uncle, Scott Edwards; dogs, Homer and Winston.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1001 N. Capitol Ave, Lansing. Visitation for will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave and Wednesday from 12:00 to 1:00pm at the church.
