Ann Louise Adam Mevers, a long time resident of Pinellas County, who could turn a bolt of fabric into magic and a family dinner into a full-blown production, passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Tappan, NY in 1936, Ann spent her early years in Montvale, NJ before her fathers job whisked the family to Miami’s sunny shores. She graduated from Coral Gables High School and earned a degree in Home Economics and Fashion Merchandising from Florida State University in 1958. During a break from FSU, while at back home she met her love, Jack, at a cotillion ball. Even though Jack was a Gator, she fell in love and they married shortly after graduation.
Ann’s first and favorite career was motherhood. She raised five children while juggling roles as a Girl Scout troop leader, Boy Scout den mother, water ballet impresario at the Tides Bath Club, and swim team scorekeeper for meets and team mom. She was the mom who could sew a costume, cook dinner, and organize a troop meeting—all before the evening news.
She was deeply involved in the community, through P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization), Questers and FAFCE (Florida Association for Family and Community Education), holding countless roles and giving countless hours to causes that mattered.
If there was a committee, Ann probably chaired it—and if there was a project, she made sure it sparkled! Ann didn’t just stitch fabric—she stitched communities together.
When the nest emptied, Ann returned to her roots in sewing and fashion. What started as teaching classes at a local shop turned into owning the business, where she became a nationally recognized sales leader for HUSQVARNA® VIKING and Bernina sewing machines. Her entrepreneurial spirit and creativity made her a legend in the sewing world—though she’d never admit it, because humility was her favorite accessory.
Life threw her another curve when her beloved husband, Jack Frost Mevers, retired early. Ann turned that chapter into an adventure—traveling the globe, golfing, and savoring every moment. She lived fully, loved deeply, and never missed an opportunity to add color and joy to the world around her.
Ann is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 yrs, Jack and her parents, Ann Y. and John “Bud” Neil McLeod Adam, Jr. She leaves behind five children—David (Lorri) Mevers, Margaret “Maggie” (David) Gillan, Sally Mevers, Thomas (Marilyn) Mevers, and Jody (Mark) Mann—along with 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, who will carry her legacy of love, laughter, and maybe a few sewing tips forward. A celebration of Ann’s remarkable life will be held January 17, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Lake Seminole Square Senior Living Residences. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinellas County Hospice Society or the American Heart Association—because Ann believed in giving back and in hearts that keep on beating strong.
