Edward F. Brothwell, Lt Col USMCR age 78 of Redington Shores FL passed away November 18, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa FL. He was born in Torrington CT and has been a Florida resident since 1996 coming from Southington CT. During his working years he was employed as director of sales for Maccabees Mutual Life Insurance Company. Mr. Brothwell was a 1953 graduate of Holy Cross University, and attended officers candidate school in Quantico VA. He served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and retired from service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the A. Ruser Jr American Legion Post 273 Madeira Beach FL. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Dorothy (Connors) Brothwell, sons; James Brothwell (Ann Marie) of Browndale PA, Robert Brothwell of Canton CT, and Richard Brothwell (Sandra) of Palm Harbor FL, a sister Carol Fasolo of Derby CT, and 9 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Patricia Brothwell Klontz. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday December 3, 2010 at 10 am St. Jerome Catholic Church in Largo. Interment including military honors will take place at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Friday December 3, 2010 at 12:45 pm.
