Francis Vincent Tursi Sr.

City of Largo loses dedicated volunteer, TURSI SR., Francis V., 87, of Largo, FL died Sept 12, 2010. Fran was born in Hartford, CT and moved t o Largo in 1970 from S. Windsor, CT where he was a warehouse supervisor for Unistrut. He was the sole proprietor of Middle New England Express Trucking Co in Hartford. Francis was a US Army veteran of WWII; member of the Knights of Columbus and Commanders Club D.A.V.. He was a volunteer for Partners N Progress For The Arts, Inc., Largo Cultural Center, Largo Police Dept and Largo Library. Fran was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marie Vecchiolla and sister, Rose Marie Tursi and is survived by his sons, Francis V. Tursi, Jr., Jamaica, Wayne J. Tursi, Sr., S. Windsor and Vincent J. (Sandra) Tursi, Tolland, CT; step daughters, Linda (Marty Gangloff) A. Read, Marsha (Jay) E. Mygatt and Kathleen (Jay) E. Phelan all of Florida and Debora L. Pehrson, Massachusetts; brother, Gennaro Tursi, Brewster, MA; sister, Filomena Campbell, Dennis, MA; 5 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Thursday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 Belcher Road, Largo.
