Herbert Clark Hoemke died peacefully in his home on March 16, 2020 at the age of 82.
“Herb” was born April 24, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Esther (Gries) and his wife Barbara (Gruber).
Herb received his education in Michigan prior to serving as a radio operator in the United States Army.
Upon discharge from the Army and return to Michigan, Herb met and married Diane (Vasser) and they had three daughters together. Theresa Lynn Flowers (Revis), Debra Gay Matthews (Tommy) and Melissa Janel Meyer (Carl).
The family moved to Florida where Herb was employed by the Eckerd Corporation, Scotty’s Hardware and Pinellas County Government.
Herb’s passions included working on and collecting automobiles and boats, collecting coins, historical memorabilia and weaponry.
Herb was a devoted husband to “Barbie” for 31 years and this union brought Herb three bonus daughters; Denise Weisberger (Lee), Brenda Capitano (Tim) and Linda Gingerich (Dave).
He was lovingly known as “Poppy” by all his grandchildren; Courtney Ciotti (Victor), Revis Guy Jr., Ocielia, and Grace (Flowers), Elijah and Emily (Matthews), River, Riley and Ryan (Meyer), Dyann and Christina (Mackey), Jeffrey (Weisberger), Andrea, Calista and Melissa (Capitano) and Katie (Gingerich). He was blessed to have several great grandchildren as well.

In lieu of flowers, Herb requested that donations be made to his favorite charities: The American Cancer Society, Tidewell Hospice and Paws for Purple Hearts.
