JIROTKA, Jaromira K. 96, of Belleair Shore, passed away May 7, 2019. Jaromira was born in 1922 in Domazlice, Czechoslovakia, where in the closing stages of World War II she interpreted for several of General Patton’s troops. She came to the United States as a political exile and refugee in 1950. Jaromira worked for Western Electric and then its parent, AT&T, for over 30 years, ultimately as an engineering associate. She loved politics, reading, the arts especially opera and traveling to today’s Czech Republic and the Cayman Islands, her favorite. Jaromira was immensely proud of the fact that together with her son she was able to regain much of the property that the family had lost to the Communists including a manor home owned by the family for several hundred years. Jaromira is preceded in death by her husband, Zdenek F. Jirotka. She is survived by her son, Circuit Judge George M. Jirotka; several nieces and a grand-nephew. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11am at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home 727-562-2080

My Dear Judge:
You were one of the most devoted sons I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Your mom always put a smile on my face with her antics....She will be missed by many. You can rest now, she is at peace. Love Michele MacReady RN

My Great Aunt.

A thank you for the box of tricks

A book of poems when I was six.

A thank you from across the sea

from me your youngest family.

If they ask, please tell them,

how we held those we love in time,

And in stars, with Lights Alive.

I only met my aunt Jaromira once but she was such a special lady, I consider myself privileged to have known her. My sister Marina and I just wish we could have got to know her better - the world will be a sadder place without her for sure, and I know our dear cousin George, her devoted son, will miss her terribly.
And from Zdenka our mother's memoirs, about her beloved cousin "Jaruska...who had to fight hard for every bit of happiness she ever got, who did it all almost by herself, who never relaxed in her striving to make the type of life she remembered in Czechoslovakia...."

Though we need to weep your loss,
You dwell in that safe place in our hearts
Where no storm or night or pain can reach you.
(John O'Donohue)
Love always
Deni, Marina and Oliver (great-nephew)
