It was very special to me to have made a connection to family I didn’t know the year Elena invited me to the family reunion for my  first time, maybe close to 20 years ago.  The reunion that year was to that very same cabin in the Smokey Mountains.  The scenery was awesome and so many new family members I got to meet.  The connection I made visiting that year was one of the highlights of my life, just as memorizing my first bible verse when I was about 4 years old which kept being replayed on television, John 3:16. We will meet again.  

cuando era adolescente, fui estudiante de intercambio y tuve la suerte de que una maravillosa familia me aceptara en su casa en Seminole, Florida. Mantuvimos la relación familiar llena de amor durante toda la vida... ALGO MUY HERMOSO. Dad, Mitchel, era un hombre callado, activo, trabajaba para la NASA, me ayudaba con mis trabajos de álgebra 2, y se divertía con todas mis locuras... y era él quien mejor me entendía cuando hablaba ingles, como si fuera español.. super rápido. Mom, una mujer maravillosa y super activa, nos dejo hace como 4 años... y Dad quedo solo, nos hablamos casi todas las semanas, y hoy, se fue con Mon. Otro gran regalo de esa familia, es mi hermana Cheiyl.  hoy estamos tristes por la perdida y alegres que ya están juntos... Es lindo las relaciones humanas desinteresadas, y guiadas solo por el amor... está paso hasta la prueba del tiempo y la distancia, ... por eso lo comparto, y porque estoy triste... ahora nos quedan años para compartirlos mas con Cheryll

When I was a teenager, I was an exchange student and I was lucky that a wonderful family would accept me at home in Seminole, Florida. We kept the family relationship full of love for a lifetime... something very beautiful. Dad, he was a quiet, active man, worked for NASA, helped me with my algebra 2 Jobs, and he had fun with all my craziness... and he was the one who better understood me when he spoke English, as if Out Spanish.. Super fast. Mom, a wonderful and super active woman, left us like 4 years ago... and dad stayed alone, we talked almost every week, and today, he left with mon. Another big gift from that family, is my sister cheiyl. Today we are sad for the lost and joyful that are already together... it is nice selfless human relationships, and guided only by love... it is step to the test of time and distance, so I share it, And because I'm sad... now we have years to share more with Cheryl

I´m so locky, in 1978, the beutiful and lovely Mitchell family, open their dors to me as exchange student from AFS, and  is one of my greatest experience, specially, because it was and still a life expirience, full of love and care. 
Dad always so quiet,  he helped me with the algebra II problems and help me aout,  I was more like mom, noisy and going people.. but it was so funny, when I came to speak english like spanish, so fast, he was the one thta understand me, and did the transalation.  I think he had a lost of fun whith my stories. 
They help me with my carear, and to start my ofice, 
They went to visit me in Guatemala, during the hardest time of the war, but we did so many things, and travel thrue the country.   All my family was so impresse, because they never live the hause without their camaras.,  
And my best present when I graduete from University, was that they came!!!! 
I´m going to miss him very much, specially when we talk about his time in the world war,  it was a hard time for him, but he was always a such a good guy, he was taking pictures all over Corea and Japan.
THANKS AND LOVE YOU DAD!!! but I know you are in a great place. 

As a friend of his daughter Cheryl I had heard the Amazing Stories of the life of Jeffrey Mitchell prior to getting the opportunity to meet him  It always amazed me how humble he was.  He was a World War II Vet a Rocket Scientist an amazing father and beloved husband yet one of the most humble people I ever met I.will always remember the fun times listening to his stories and teasing him about he and Michael getting in trouble together. I will always cherish the beautiful wooden box that he gave me that he made himself.  He will always be my favorite Rocket Scientist❤
